Optimizing Resin Printing in Colder Temperatures

As 3D printing enthusiasts continue to explore the boundaries of resin printing, adapting to environmental conditions becomes crucial for achieving optimal results. In this article, we will delve into the specifics of resin printing using a unique mixture: a 60/40 blend of Phrozen's  Aqua 8K Gray and Onyx Impact Plus. Our focus will be on adjusting the printing settings for optimal performance in rooms with temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. ▲ Luther's Print Using the "Cold Setting". / Luther Caudle Understanding the Resin Mixture:      The combination of Phrozen's Aqua 8K Gray and Onyx Impact Plus creates a resin blend that offers a balance of properties, including excellent detail resolution and enhanced impact resistance. However, like any resin, its behaviour can be influenced by environmental factors, particularly temperature. Challenges in Colder Temperatures:      Lower room temperatures...

Peachy Turns 6 Months Old! 🍑

Last time, we've introduced a stray dog named Peachy, which had her fortune to have one of the volunteer Wong, from the local stray rescue and adoption group in Hualian, Taiwan, to made a 3D printed prosthetic for her congenital amputation, who is also a member of Phrozen's Taiwanese group on Facebook.     After 3 months, Peachy has become 6 months old and has already adopt to the prosthetic Wong has made for her. And she has also become heavier, more stronger then before, which means Wong have to adjust the design of the tailored prosthetic to better fit her current state.      Wong has also tried out some new material making the prosthetic. Despite other kinds of resin has stronger, more durable result compared to the Phrozen Rock-Black Stiff he's originally used, Rock-Black for its easy to print, high dimensional accuracy, is still the choice for him to do the fast proto...

Experimenting on Aqua 8K Gray + Onyx Impact Plus Mix

One of the biggest trend in Phrozen community this year is Aqua 8K Gray + Onyx Impact Plus resin mixture. Since people found out that mix a bit of Impact Plus into the community favoured Aqua 8K resin, can provide the model with exceptionally great durability while maintain the detail achieved by the Aqua 8K, it has become many people's go-to resin mixture for printing tabletop miniatures.      Brian Gordon in Phrozen 3D Printer Group on Facebook opened up a thread talking about his experiment with 60% Aqua 8K Gray + 40% Onyx Impact Plus mix, and having one of the user, Luther, who is known for advocating this ratio of resin mixture joined the discussion, sharing their settings with other members in the community. ▲ The result from Brian's setting that uses calculation of exposure time applied by the ratio as a starting point which works right away for him.      Brian explains that he calculates the exposure time using the average exposure time of each resi...

3D Printed Prosthetic for Disabled Stray Dog

Sui-Wah Wong, a member of Phrozen's community on a Taiwanese Facebook group, recently showcased his creation of a prosthetic for a dog with disabilities. ▲ The short video Wong has been shared on Facebook.      Wong is a devoted animal lover, a owner of a vintage film-camera repair workshop. He's also an active volunteer with a local stray rescue and adoption group called " 我們的動物緣 ", meaning "our serendipity with animals", situated in Ji'an, Hualian, Taiwan. Given his background in CAD and 3D printing from his camera repair business—where he crafts rare parts for classic film cameras—he found himself motivated to start exploring designing and 3D printing prosthetics for animals with disabilities. ▲ Wong's design of prosthetic for a dog with disabilities.      Despite his familiarity with CAD and 3D printing, the realm of designing assi...
